A set of two GE-290 armchairs and footstool by Hans Wegner for Getama. In beautifully grained oak this 1950s set creates the sense of modernist luxury one would expect from Denmark's most famous chair designer. All cushions have been re-upholstered in high-quality thick-weave herringbone fabric.

The impressive wide armrests and swept back rear legs make the GE-290 one of Wegner's more striking designs. The sprung cushions and ergonomic shape also make this set extremely comfortable. In particular the high-back with ottoman are hard to surpass for relaxation. Getama manufacturer marks are stamped on the undersides of both chairs and the ottoman. | |

This set is in excellent vintage condition. The oak has minor patina, in keeping with age, but is structurally flawless. The covers are new and can be removed for cleaning. All joints are absolutely sound, the original chain metal webbing in perfect condition. | |
